Chairman's Message

Dear Stakeholders and Visitors,

As we navigate through a transformative era in global trade and economics, Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) continues to play a strategic role in India’s maritime development. With a heritage rich in maritime excellence and a future poised for innovative growth, VPA remains committed to enhancing its capabilities and contributing significantly to our nation's economic resilience.

India, now the 5th largest global economy, is on a fast track to further ascension, expected to become the 3rd largest by the next decade. This remarkable growth trajectory is supported by robust infrastructural advancements, among which maritime ports play a critical role. The VPA is integral to this framework, handling a substantial portion of India’s EXIM trade, both in volume and value.

As we reflect on a year of record-breaking achievements at Visakhapatnam Port Authority, I am pleased to report that we handled an unprecedented 81.09 million tonnes of cargo in the fiscal year 2023-24. This milestone not only reflects our operational excellence but also sets the stage for our next ambitious target— handling 90 million tonnes in the fiscal year 2024-25.

In alignment with the Government of India's visionary Sagarmala Programme, we are focused on reducing logistical costs and enhancing the efficiency of cargo movement. This initiative is not just about augmenting our physical infrastructure but also about integrating digital technologies that streamline operations and foster transparency.

Our developmental plans are ambitious yet meticulous, designed to modernize existing facilities and expand new capacities. We are enhancing our rail and road connectivity to ensure seamless movement of goods, thereby elevating our operational standards to global benchmarks. The adoption of the 'Land Lord' model is a

strategic move towards involving private stakeholders in terminal operations, ensuring that our growth is sustainable and inclusive.

Sustainability is at the core of our operations. We are committed to achieving a net-zero carbon footprint, leading the charge in environmental stewardship among Indian ports.

Our commitment extends beyond economic metrics and into the realm of community and environmental wellbeing. Mechanized cargo handling, development of covered storage facilities, and extensive green belt projects around our areas of operation are a testament to our dedication to minimizing our ecological impact.

At VPA, we believe that our people are our greatest asset. We are fostering a culture of innovation and accountability, where every member of our team is empowered and motivated to excel. Our efforts in enhancing 'Ease of Doing Business' have been recognized and applauded, yet we continue to strive for improvements, always putting our stakeholders' needs at the forefront.

As we look forward, we invite you to engage with us, share your insights, and be a part of our journey towards making Visakhapatnam Port an epitome of maritime excellence. Your feedback is invaluable in our continual pursuit of excellence.

Thank you for your trust and partnership. Together, we will continue to navigate the future, anchored in resilience and propelled by innovation.

With warm Regards
